Western Indiana Employment and Training Services, Inc. (WIETS), a non-profit organization, has provided employment and training assistance to the citizens of Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo for more than 20 years. As part of WorkOne, WIETS offers job search and training resources at no cost to the job seeker.

WIETS works with local employers, learning facilities, chambers of commerce and government to evaluate training needs to ensure a well qualified local workforce and assist in economic development.

WIETS, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, operates a one-stop career center in Terre Haute, Indiana, offering unemployment insurance, employment services and job training in one location. Express offices are located in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan and Vermillion counties.

 

WIETS is also a provider of IMPACT (Indiana Manpower Placement and Comprehensive Training) services in Clay, Parke, Putnam and Vigo counties. WIETS works closely with the local offices of the Division of Family and Children within each of these counties to provide employment and training activities to recipients of TANF (Temporary Assistince to Needy Families) and food stamps.

 

WIETS also works with young adults. We have had large, successful youth programs for many years, working with as many as 450 youth from the six county area. Leadership opportunities, internships and work experience are some of the services available.

WIETS partners with business and community leaders in support of labor force requirements and other community needs central to establishing a world class workforce.

WIETS also engages in fee for service contracts with area employers, such as, administering employment testing and applicant screening.
